Wheeling Elks Youth Golf Takes Over Crispin Course

WHEELING — More than 50 young golfers from the Ohio Valley enjoyed blue skies and beautiful green grass Wednesday as they played in the annual Wheeling Elks youth golf tournament at the Crispin Course at Oglebay. The tournament, put on by the Wheeling Elks club for several generations, was hosted by more than a dozen club members. This free event provided golf for the players, carts for their spectating parents and a celebratory meal for all after the event in Haller Shelter.

In the boys 16-18 year old division, Wheeling Park standout Quinn Marsh shot the low round of the day with a sharp 75 on the course still set up for the Bordas and Bordas golf event over the weekend. Two shots behind was Wheeling Central’s Rowan Parker with 77 on the course where he also led his high school team to an OVAC championship. Dugan Dobrovich shot 80 to finish third.

In the girls 16-18 division, Barnesville senior Kennedy Little put up one of the best rounds of the day with a 78 that included two birdies in her first seven holes. The was followed by Wheeling Park captain Abigail Thomas with 101 and Shadyside’s Greta Green with 103.

A tight battle took place in the crowded 13-15 age group with Seth Weisner taking the prize with an 82. St. Clairsville’s Adriel Maefsky edged out John Marshall’s Hayden Harvey in a one hole playoff after they both shot 83.

On the girls side Harrison Central freshman Reese Dunlap shot a strong 84 followed by Guiliana Voellinger’s 115 and Jullian Sayer with 118.
