By Staff Reports 2 min read

A pair of Wheeling 10 year-olds will highlight the 5th annual Nick and Alice Gaudino Memorial golf tournament to be held at the Bloch Memorial Course at Wheeling Park. The event was rescheduled to Monday, July 20 at noon due to atmospheric conditions in the Wheeling area.

The fifth-graders, who are also good friends as well as competitors, will highlight the event. Andrew Bieniek, son of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Bieniek, has distinguished himself by annually successfully competing on the national level in a number of youth golf events. He will be joined by his friend and competitor Luke Templin, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Templin, who has been recognized as one of the bright stars of the future in Wheeling area golf by already competing in some activities of the Oglebay Park men's golf club. Most recently, Bieniek edged Templin by two strokes in the Wheeling Elks tournament at Wheeling Park Golf Course in June. The two young players are scheduled to go off the first tee at 1 pm.

They will join more than two dozen male and female golfers in five grade divisions who are registered to compete. Late entries are currently being accepted by contacting David Gaudino at David.gaudino54@gmail.com

This competition is part of continued efforts to promote youth golf for boys and girls in the Ohio Valley and is offered in cooperation with the Wheeling Park Commission and Dan Ackerman and his staff at Oglebay.

Play will begin at 12:15. Friends and spectators are also welcome to attend.
