Bradshaw Wins Big At WVU Medicine WV Open

WHEELING -- Entering this year's WVU Medicine West Virginia Open, Madeline Bradshaw had the opportunity to defend the Mixed Open Doubles championship along with Jeremy McClelland, the pair having taken home the title last year.
After the conclusion of this year's competition, Bradshaw has a lot more hardware in her trophy case.
Bradshaw was a triple champion in this year's WV Open, capturing the Women's Open Singles, Women's Open Doubles, and Mixed Open Doubles crowns throughout the four-day competition at Oglebay Park, put on annually by the Wheeling Oglebay Tennis Club.
The recent Wheeling Park graduate, who finished her time with the Patriots as a state runner-up and OVAC champion in singles and doubles competition, will continue her playing career at Denison University next year, and will be joining the Big Reds with newly-minted trophies in-tow.
Bradshaw was the No. 1 seed in the Women's Open Singles field, and defeated No. 2 Lexi Henson 2-6, 6-1, 6-2 for the title.
Playing alongside McClellan once more for the Mixed Open Doubles competition, and seeded second, the two defeated top-seeded Max Henson and Lexi Henson 7-5, 7-5 to retain.
Bradshaw's partner for the Women's Open Doubles competition was Lexi Henson, the two defeating Emma Smith and Mackenzie Smock 6-4, 6-4 for the gold.
Bradshaw captured the Women's Open Singles and Women's Open Doubles trophies on Saturday, and added another Mixed Open Doubles title to her resume on Sunday. Many of Sunday's matches were moved to Saturday because of anticipated rain.
The winner of this year's Men's Singles Open was top-seeded Loren Byers, who defeated last year's winner Mitchell Maroscher, seeded third, 6-3, 6-2.
The Men's Open Doubles winners were the top-seeded team of Max Henson and Jonah Ng, who downed Ethan Muza and John Muza 6-3, 3-6, 10-4.
In the different NTRP ranked divisions, the Men's 3.0 Singles champ was Marc Shepard. The Men's 4.0 Singles winner was Sam Winward.
The Men's 8.0 Doubles champions were Cody Francis and Ned George. Ned George and Mark Singer won the Men's 7.0 Doubles division.
The Women's 6.0 Doubles champs were Julie Joseph and Christine Ardolino. The Women's 7.0 Doubles winners were Julie Joseph and Maggie Allison. The Women's 8.0 Doubles champions were Leanne Straub and Billie Jo Johnston.
Lastly, the Mixed 8.0 Doubles championship went to the team of Christian Turak and Julie Joseph.
