High School Roundup: Tuttle Powers St. Clairsville Boys To Opening Victory

ST. CLAIRSVILLE - The St. Clairsville boys' high school soccer team debuted late Friday night with a 4-1 victory over Union Local during 'Friday Night Futbol' on the artificial pitch inside Red Devil Stadium.

Senior Trevor Tuttle recorded a brace, which included a penalty kick, to power the Red Devils. Noah Locke registered the other tally, while Lucas Causey logged two assists. Ace Lednik had the other helper.

Harrison Central 1, Steubenville Catholic 1

CADIZ -- The ‘Friday Night Futbol’ match up between Harrison Central and Steubenville Catholic provided a thrilling start to the local high school soccer season.

The Huskies struck first, but the Crusaders, however, showed their resilience and pushed back, tying the game with just over five minutes to play, forcing a 1-1 draw at Wagner Field.

The Huskies' Noah Thaxton got off the cleanest shot of the game from one sideline, firing a hard shot into the twine with 14:17 left to play, giving the hosts a 1-0 lead.

The Crusaders had a golden opportunity when the Huskies committed a foul in the box with 5:18 to play.

Central’s Tommy Symington took the penalty kick and fired a shot into the net, tying the game.

CADIZ - The Huskies trailed 3-0 at the half in opening their season Saturday with a loss on the artificial pitch at Wagner Field.
