The Wheeling Oglebay Tennis Club (WOTC) will offer the Millie Mulhern Youth Tennis program during the month of September for students ages 7 to 14.

Beginners through advanced players from public, private, parochial, or home-school settings are welcome to attend.

All sessions will be held at the Horne Family Racquet Center at Oglebay Park from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m.

Those ages 10 to 14 will attend on Wednesdays: September 2, 9, 16, and 23. Participants ages 7 to 9 will attend on Thursdays: September 3, 10, 17, and 24.

Racquets are available for those who need them.

Participants are asked to wear athletic clothing and shoes and to bring water/sport drink.

"We appreciate tennis pros Jeremy McClelland and Missy Bailey, the WOTC adult volunteers, and members of the West Liberty University men's and women's tennis teams for their assistance in making this a great program for local youth," WOTC President Debbie Pickens said.

Sessions will consist of instruction, drills, games, and/or competition.

The online registration link is open at wotennisclub.weebly.com. A USTA information form and $20 fee will need to be completed prior to completion of the registration. Parents/guardians will need to complete a waiver on the first day of each session. If anyone participant needs financial assistance, the parent should email the club at wheelingoglebaytennisclub@gmail.com for scholarship information.

This program is named for its founder Millie Mulhern, who along with her husband Jerry, devoted years to growing youth tennis in the Ohio Valley.

"In their memory, we want to continue to offer this program with the goal of introducing tennis to as many youth as possible,” Pickens said.
