WHEELING — The Maroon Knights volleyball team won for the 16th time in 20 tries Tuesday by toppling River in four sets, 25-11, 25-22, 22-25 and 25-14.
Leading the Knights on the stat sheet was Remy Peters with 16 kills and two aces. Sophomore Teagan Peters posted 12 kills and two aces. Junior Chloe Groome turned in a solid all-around match with five aces, five kills, 25 assists and 12 digs.
Senior Olivia Stephens posted 17 digs and five aces. Jackie Maxwell charted five kills and junior Morgan Miehle added four kills, three aces and 10 digs.
Leading River's offense Tuesday was Mallarie Maddy with 27 kills along with nine digs and Hallie Hammel who finished with 11 kills, nine digs and a pair of aces.
Aubrey Fetty led the pilots with 20 digs and five aces while Karly Showalter had 15 digs. Showalter also had 16 assists and Gracen Reed had 18.

EAST LIVERPOOL - The Red Devils showed no hangover after winning the OVAC Class 4A championship on Saturday as they blanked the Potters.
James Parsons scored three goals while Trevor Tuttle had two goals and an assist. Lucas Causey also scored a goal and logged a trio of helpers.
Camden Judge and Brycen Beck also had assists.

WHEELING — The Maroon Knights didn’t find the back of the net until late in the first half, but it proved to be plenty in the shutout of the visiting Hawks.
Sophomore Elah Konkle got the Knights (15-1) on the board. Maddie Steele and Elizabeth Steele recorded second-half tallies to put the game away.
Assists were credited to Loni Kusic and two to Maddie Steele.
In net, senior Bella Fitzsimmons turned away all six Hiland shots.

OLD WASHINGTON - The Jets fell to the Warriors by scores of 25-15, 25-9 and 25-12.
Kaelynn Johnston had five kills and an ace, while Jamie Bolon had two kills and a block.

MORRISTOWN - The Jets fell to the visiting Zeps by scores of 25-17, 25-19 and 27-25 in a tightly contested match inside The Hangar.
Bolon led Union Local with eight kills, two aces and a block, while Johnston charted half-a-dozen kills. Edyn McGary and Ramsey Butler had four kills each.
