MEC, G-MAC Announce Partnership Bringing Joint Swimming, Diving Championships to Mylan Park

FAIRMONT, W.Va. - The Mountain East Conference (MEC) and Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Wednesday announced a multi-year partnership with the Monongalia County Commission and the Visit Mountaineer Country Convention and Visitors Bureau that will bring the MEC/G-MAC Swimming & Diving Championships to the Peak Health Aquatic Center at Mylan Park in Morgantown, West Virginia, beginning with the 2027 championship.

As part of the partnership, the Monongalia County Commission and Visit Mountaineer Country Convention and Visitors Bureau will become MEC Corporate Partners.

The championship’s move to Morgantown is made possible through the Monongalia County Tourism Advancement Fund, reinforcing a shared commitment to enhancing the championship experience for student-athletes while generating meaningful economic impact for the region.

“The collaboration and partnership between the MEC and G-MAC has made this championship a tremendous success over the past eight years, and we’re excited to build on that foundation in Morgantown,” said Mountain East Conference Commissioner Reid Amos. “We sincerely appreciate the growing support of the Monongalia County Commission, Visit Mountaineer Country and Mylan Park. Together, we’ve created an opportunity to elevate the championship experience for our student-athletes at one of the finest aquatic facilities in the country."

Established in 2018, the joint MEC/G-MAC Swimming & Diving Championships annually bring together men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs from both conferences to compete for conference championships. Following eight successful years at the C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton, Ohio, the championship enters a new chapter at the Peak Health Aquatic Center.

The Peak Health Aquatic Center features an Olympic-sized 50-meter competition pool with a movable bulkhead that can be configured for short- or long-course competition, a six-lane diving well with a full complement of platforms and springboards, and spectator seating designed to accommodate championship competition.

The 2027 G-MAC/MEC Swimming & Diving Championships will be held February 10-13 at the Peak Health Aquatic Center. Daily schedules, ticket information, and additional championship information will be made available on each conference website at a later date.
