Only two Ohio Valley 'Small Schools' remain undefeated through seven weeks of the high school football season, those being Toronto and River. Both survived acid tests last week in wins over Massillon Tuslaw (29-28) and then-spotless Shadyside (22-13), respectively.
The Red Knights head to Woodsfield to meet Monroe Central (4-3) at Monroe Park while the Pilots remain at Martin Flannery Field in Hannibal as Shenandoah (4-3) visits for Homecoming 2026.

WOODSFIELD - The Red Knights check in at No. 2 in the latest Ohio Division VII, Region 28-7 ratings behind Symmes Valley. They have won 17 of their last 19 contests.
Quarterback Max Rebich has thrown for 1,554 yards and 15 touchdowns on 107 of 161. However, he has thrown 10 interceptions. Drake Bouscher is a dual threat on offense, while Colt Joynson is the top receiver.
The Seminoles are No. 10 in Ohio Division VI, Region 23 and snapped a two-game losing streak last week with a road win over Shenandoah.
Monroe Central is led by senior quarterback Cooper Howell. He is supported by classmate Corbin Farnsworth and sophomore Jett Kaiser.

HANNIBAL - The Pilots have navigated through seven weeks unscathed as they celebrate Homecoming 2026 when the Zeps come to town.
In their win over Shadyside last week, senior tailback Wyatt Stalder ran for two touchdowns and caught a third in a fine all-around effort.
River had to abandon its traditional wishbone running attack in the second half following an injury to fullback Peyton Weese who was hurt while punting. His status is unknown.

Nitro at Wheeling Central
WHEELING - The Maroon Knights (3-3) return to the friendly confines of Wheeling University's Bishop Schmitt Field to host the Wildcats (2-4) after a very successful two-game road trip that saw them collect victories over Monroe Central and Windber (Pa.).
Senior running back Dustin Sanner has run wild for Wheeling Central while classmates Nico Kusic (quarterback) and Brady Ernest (wide receiver) have been a lethal combo.
This game is a key matchup for the Maroon Knights as their last three opponents (Barnesville (7-0), Cincinnati College Prep (7-0) and Williamstown (5-0) are a combined 19-0 heading into this week.
Wheeling Central is ranked No. 8 in the latest WVSSAC Class A poll. Nitro is 20th in Class AAA.
This is the first meeting between the two programs.
Canfield at Wheeling Park
WHEELING - This is a matchup of struggling teams when the Patriots (2-4) welcome the Cardinals (2-5) to Wheeling Island Stadium. However, while Wheeling Park has been outscored 172-14 in the last three weeks, Canfield has dropped its five games by a total of 30 points.
This will also be the initial meeting between the two schools.
The Patriots check in at No. 10 in the latest WVSSAC Class AAAA poll.
Buckeye Local at Union Local
MORRISTOWN - The Jets (6-1) rebounded nicely from their lone setback two weeks ago and will welcome the Panthers to Jets Field.
Union Local head coach Bernie Thompson moved into second-place on the school's all-time wins list with 45, surpassing Bob Laipple who had 44. He trails Coach O, Jake Olsavsky who recorded 100 during his career at Union Local.
The Jets Brody Perzanowski continues his quest for the all-time OVAC rushing record of 6,161 yards. The senior has gained 5,849 yards in his three-plus seasons which leaves him 312 shy of Quincy Wilson's all-time mark.
Union Local is seventh in Division IV, Region 15 and still has a shot at Buckeye 8 South and OVAC Class 4A championships, as well.
Buckeye Local, which has lost 12 straight dating back to last season, has been outscored 302-63 this year.
The Jets lead the all-time series 16-7 with the Panthers last victory coming in 2019.
Cameron at Frontier
BEAVERTOWN - The state-ranked Dragons (4-1) cross the Ohio River to meet the Cougars (5-2) in a key OVAC Class A contest. The two are 1-2 in the current standings.
Cameron, which is ranked No. 6 in the latest WVSSAC Class A poll, has won its last two outings after suffering a loss to still-perfect River.
Frontier was ninth in the latest OHSAA Division VII, Region 27 ratings. The Cougars saw a two-game winning streak snapped with a 46-19 loss to visiting Conotton Valley.
The Dragons hold a 7-2 all-time advantage in the series, winning the last three games.
In other games of interest, Steubenville Catholic (4-3) visits Perkins Field inside Bill Jobko Stadium in Brookside to meet Bridgeport (2-5); Shadyside (6-1) looks to rebound when it treks to the Noble County fairgrounds to face Caldwell (2-5); Cambridge (0-7) travels to Jimmy Carey Stadium to clash with Weir (0-7) in a battle of long losing streaks; Oak Glen (3-3) meets East Liverpool (5-2) in the 'Battle for the Bridge" at Patterson Field; Magnolia (1-4) hits the road to Kidwell to face Tyler Consolidated (2-3); Steubenville (5-2) hosts Buffalo Academy of Health Sciences (2-3) on Reno Field at Harding Stadium; Indian Creek (4-3) travels to Lisbon to meet Beaver Local (4-3) and Warren Local (2-5) makes the journey to Edison's Unified Sports Complex in Richmond to face the Wildcats (2-5). On Saturday, Linsly (2-3) entertains Manchester (3-3) at 2 p.m. on Fawcett Field at Lockhart Alumni Field.
