Union Local’s Brody Perzanowski Sets All-Time OVAC Rushing Mark

By Staff Reports 2 min read

MORRISTOWN - Brody Perzanowski became the all-time leading rusher in OVAC history Friday night, surpassing former Weir standout Quincy Wilson, as the Union Local senior ran for 316 yards and four touchdowns on just 15 carries as the Jets (7-1) soared over visiting Buckeye Local, 54-7, at Jets Field.

Perzanowski now has 6,164 career yards and in the process of setting that mark, he also eclipsed the Union Local single-game record of 312 set by Chad Rogers. The only Jets rushing record he doesn't hold is the single-season mark of 2,002 set by Jaxson Price.

"It means a lot. I've put in a lot of hard work during my career and I think it's awesome to see my name atop the list," Perzanowski said. "Being higher up than Quincy Wilson really says a lot."

Perzanowski had touchdown runs of 14 and 22 in the first quarter as the Jets soared to a 21-0 lead. He then sprinted 45 and 70 in the second half as the lead ballooned to 48-0 at the half.

"I've been around Brody for many years now. I treat him like my own son. I love him dearly," Union Local head coach Bernie Thompson said. "First and foremost, he's a great young man. He's a great teammate. He's a kid who works extremely hard and who cares deeply. He's worked very hard the past four years to get where he's at today. It's really cool that he has the opportunity to leave Union Local as, not only the all-time leading rusher here, but the all-time leading rusher in OVAC history."

Collins Pritts had a pair of punt returns of 61 and 47 yards for touchdowns for Union Local, while Ethan Meyer scored on a 12-yard run and Karson Williams added a 14-yard TD scamper.

Jeff Bolon had seven PATs.

Union Local racked up 414 yards of total offense, while the Panthers (0-8) managed a mere 43.
