BELMONT COUNTY

BARNESVILLE MEMORIAL PARK

The hub of family outdoor recreation in the western portion of BELMONT COUNTY, Barnesville’s Memorial Park features the Albert S. George Youth Center, three lighted ballfields, hiking trails, a 12-acre lake, a lighted horseshoe pit, basketball, a swimming pool, tennis and volleyball courts.

BELMONT LAKE AT BARKCAMP

Barkcamp State Park boasts 123 electric camping sites, a mini golf course and playground, and a horse washing station. The camp office loans games and sporting equipment to registered campers. Fishing, boating and swimming are available.

MEMORIAL PARK

St. Clairsville’s Memorial Park is home to Allen Pool, an Olympic-sized pool complete with a waterslide. Memorial Park also has hiking and biking trails, two playgrounds, tennis courts, a baseball field and picnic spaces, both large and small, available for rent.

PIEDMONT LAKE

Piedmont Lake is the site where the state’s largest muskie was caught and is a great fishing locale. The lake covers 2,312 acres in Belmont, Harrison and Guernsey counties with a maximum depth of 38 feet. The marina is located at 32281 Marina Road, Freeport, OH 43973; 740-658-1029

GUERNSEY COUNTY

SALT FORK LAKE

The lodge has 148 guest rooms, dining room, coffee shop, snack bar, gift shop, lounge and lobby areas, along with an indoor game area and meeting rooms. Outdoor amenities include swimming pools, sauna, tennis, volleyball and basketball courts, a 400-foot beach and boat ramps and docking facilities. The park also has 44 cottages and a 192-site campground. Fishing is allowed on the lake.

There are two marinas with a total of 469 rental docks.

SENECA LAKE

The largest of the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District’s lakes and the third largest inland lake in Ohio, Seneca Lake features 513 campsites in two locations, cabins, a swimming beach, nature center, amphitheater and more. The beach has free Wi-Fi access and opens Memorial Day weekend.

Boats are limited to 399 horsepower. There is one public boat launch at Ohio 574.

HARRISON COUNTY

CLENDENING LAKE

Numerous electric and non-electric camping spots are found at Clendening Lake.

HARRISON STATE FOREST

The forest boasts 1,345 acres, with 20 miles of bridle and hiking trails, seven family campsites and 20 horse campsites. There is a 100-yard shooting range available for practicing accuracy or sighting-in firearms, and a number of small ponds for fishing enthusiasts.

SALLY BUFFALO PARK

Sally Buffalo Park holds three ponds for anglers, with a trail for walkers and playground areas for children.

TAPPAN LAKE PARK

The park houses more than 500 campsites, along with cabins, a swimming beach and a trail connection to Tappan Wetlands wildlife area.

JEFFERSON COUNTY FRIENDSHIP PARK

Friendship Park is a 1,320-acre park that is equipped with both RV and camping facilities. It features opportunities for picnicking, fishing, boating, bird watching, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding and other outdoor activities.

MONROE COUNTY

WAYNE NATIONAL FOREST

Wayne National Forest covers more than 250,000 acres of Appalachian foothills. It features more than 300 miles of trails for hiking, all-terrain vehicle riding, mountain biking and horseback riding.

Local portions of the forest include Dysart Woods, outside Centerville in Belmont

County.

UHRICHSVILLE WATER PARK

Uhrichsville Water Park boasts 4.5 acres of aquatic excitement, including an 18,000-square-foot heated pool with a pair of waterslides and a child play area.

BROOKE HILLS PARK

Brooke Hills Park aims to provide recreational and educational opportunities for youth and families alike. Its focus is on outdoor and environmental activities.

HANCOCK COUNTY

TOMLINSON RUN STATE PARK

Tomlinson Run State Park provides a wide range of recreational opportunities to a large number of both local and out-of-state guests. The park features 1,398 acres of land, roughly divided into two sections.

MARSHALL COUNTY

GRAND VUE PARK

Grand Vue Park sports more than 650 acres of ridges, ravines and breathtaking overlooks. The newest features are the Aerial Adventure Park, which features rock climbing, aerial ropes course, trampoline, giant swing, mega jump/rappel tower and its zip line Canopy Tours, consisting of 7,540 of dual zip lines.

It also has a new restaurant, the Mason Dixon BBQ Co.

BEAR ROCKS LAKES

Bear Rocks Lakes Wildlife Area boasts four different lakes to fish from, one of which is set up for handicapped access.

RYERSON STATION STATE PARK

Ryerson Station is a 1,164-acre park that features 62-acre Ronald J. Duke Lake. A free swimming pool is also open. Roughly 900 acres of Ryerson Station are open to hunting, trapping and dog training.
