Kennedy Hardware Community Minded

By SCOTT McCLOSKEY

Staff Writer

Kennedy Hardware continues to provide customers with a full line of top quality hardware and outdoor power equipment while taking care of customers like no one else, according to Hardware Sales Manager Tom Andrews.

Andrews said they strive to take care of everyone from the commercial and independent contractors to the “do-it-yourself-guy” looking to fix something around the house. He said they are currently re-establishing a working relationship with many area high school vocational departments in Ohio, Belmont and Marshall counties.

“We are providing them with good quality products at a discounted price … and we are doing free delivery for the schools,” Andrews said. “I’m going around and visiting all the schools and talking to all the shop and vocational teachers and telling them what I want to do, and so far I have nine area schools doing business with us. It’s these kinds of relationships that make Kennedy stand out in the community.

“The difference between us and the big box stores is the personal customer service … and the time we take with each individual customer,” Andrews said. “And we are selling quality stuff.”

The hardware store sells a large variety of power tools, hardware and other items including: locks, fasteners, cleaning and snow removal items, and a variety of gardening tools.

In addition he said the store strives to sell as much “USA made,” including “locally made” products and equipment, as possible. He said some of the local brands carried in the hardware store include: Bully Tools, made in steubenville, eagle manufacturing products, made in Wellsburg and Wheeling canvas products, made in the Fulton section of Wheeling.

Company President and CEO Tim Teufel, who began working at the store in the early 1980s as a teenager, said it’s that solid reputation for quality products and service that has kept customers coming back for generations. Located at 3300 McColloch St., Wheeling, the store opened in 1923.

Teufel said they will be offering some great specials on outdoor power equipment, which includes: mowers, tractors, weed trimmers, chainsaws, leaf blowers and other lawn and garden accessories before the start of the spring season. They carry brand names such as: Cub Cadet, Ventrac, Kubota, Toro, and Snapper.
