BLOOMINGDALE - A familiar face will be roaming the hallways of Jefferson County Joint Vocational School once again as Andy Long returns this August. Long, who previously served as a teacher and administrator at the site, will fill the new dean of students position when he begins on Aug. 1. He received a two-year contract during the April 21 JVS school board meeting and will oversee a combination of assistant principal and guidance duties while working with Principal Heather Hoover. Three sentenced on drug charges in Ohio County

Three people have been sentenced in Ohio County Circuit Court following convictions on felony drug charges involving fentanyl and other controlled substances, according to the Ohio County Prosecutor's Office. On April 8, Kimberly Straight, 42, of Wheeling, was convicted of the felony offense of possession with intent to deliver fentanyl. Straight was arrested on June 6, 2025, after Wheeling Police observed two individuals traveling the wrong way on a one-way street before continuing in the incorrect lane of Chapline Street.
