American Legion Post No. 1 in Wheeling will host a Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m. Nov. 11 at WesBanco Arena. The guest speaker for this year’s event is Frank Vitale, president and CEO of Forge Business Solutions and the civilian aide for the Secretary of the Army for West Virginia. Salvation Army in urgent need of food, holiday assistance

With the federal government shutdown exacerbating needs that already are crucial, the Salvation Army is asking the Ohio Valley to help assist in its mission to provide food and other assistance to those it helps. The Salvation Army said that, some days, as many as four times the number of people as usual come through its doors looking for food assistance. Many of them have never asked for assistance before.
