Dear Editor, A heartfelt thanks to first responders: During the course of fulfilling your day-to-day duties as first responders, your heroic actions and efforts, on scene, may go unwitnessed. In the case of the Tiltonsville Roller Rink, we did witness it. We stood by and watched, seeing first-hand how you fought the massive inferno with such care, such adrenaline-filled focus, and with what appeared to all of us to be natural, well-orchestrated teamwork both within and across local fire departments. Dear Editor, As it has recently been announced that Lisa Kazmirski has been selected as the new executive director of Belmont County Senior Services, as current executive director Dwayne Pielech has announced his resignation to take effect Dec. 3, 2021, in order to return full-time to his private sector business. Dear Editor, Last week, Ohio First Lady Fran DeWine visited Barnesville to announce a $2.25 million grant to replace 25,000 linear feet of waterline and construct a new pump station. The new water main will replace an asbestos 12-inch line installed in 1963, which provides water from the Slope Creek Reservoir to the Barnesville Water Treatment Plant. The original construction material and deterioration over the past sixty years have resulted in water loss due to the leaks. Dear Editor, As Four-Star General of the United States Army, General Colin Powell recently passed away at the age of 84 of COVID-19, which was complicated even further as a result of his being diagnosed with cancer of the blood, which weakened his immune system even further, even though he had reportedly been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus pandemic.
