Thursday Music Chorus to entertain Music Club

WHEELING — On Thursday, Dec. 5, the Thursday Music Club Chorus will present “Christmas Cheer” for the Thursday Music Club at The Gathering Place at Woodview at 11 a.m.

The club will have an assortment of Christmas Carols such as: “We Need A Little Christmas,” “Mary Did You Know?”, “Bashana Haba’ah,” “Let’s Hear It For Mrs. Claus,” and a medley of tunes titled “Hey Mr. Santa” and a special rendition of “Christmas Lullaby.”

There will also be a special soloist, Alexandra Berze, who will be performing with the chorus. She also will be performing solo with her father as her accompanist.

Sponsors of the program are Suzie McCormick and Lynn Welsh.

The chorus will also be performing at WesBanco in Elm Grove for Community Appreciation Day at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, and at Good Shepherd Nursing Home at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16.

Anita Chops is the conductor and Debbie Breiding is the accompanist. Donna Zanke is the percussionist.

President Geri Sloane will conduct a short business meeting and hear report from Secretary Joan Campbell and treasurer Carol Couch.

Member Judi Porterfield will cater the luncheon and there is a fee. You must have a reservation; call Emily Mayer at 304-232-1714 by Dec. 2 to make a reservation.

Members Pat Pockl and Judy Sszymialis will greet guests and members. Members Donna Niess and Kitty Patrick are in charge of table decorations. There is no meeting in January. The next luncheon will be Feb. 6 and the entertainer will be baritone Alan Cline. Study group has no meeting in December and January. The study group will meet at 1 p.m. Feb. 10 at St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church.

About Alexandra Berze

Berze hails from Mount Pleasant and is a senior at Buckeye Local High School in Rayland. She has been a member of Buckeye Local’s jazz, concert, and marching bands all throughout high school.

She has also served as field commander of the Buckeye Local High School Panther Marching Band for two years. She has been an active member of the Thespian Society and has starred in numerous school productions.

She has starred in The Phantom of the Opera as Christine Daae, Fiddler on the Roof as Hodel, and will be playing the Witch in Into the Woods in Buckeye Local’s upcoming production.

She has been in many other theatrical productions since she was in 6th grade. Alexandra plans to attend college to pursue a degree in music with an emphasis in vocal performance.
