MARTINS FERRY Chamber of Commerce has decided to cancel its annual SkyShow, which includes a fireworks display for Fourth of July. The chamber said on social media because the fireworks alone cost $7,000, it did not want to ask sponsors to cover the cost at this time.

BARNESVILLE AMERICAN Legion Post 168 will hold its annual Memorial Day services beginning at 11 a.m. Monday, May 25, at the memorial plaza. Due to the recent COVID-19 restrictions they will not be conducting a parade before the ceremony. The service is open to the public; however, people will not be permitted directly on the plaza. Those attending can stand or sit on the adjacent sidewalks while practicing social distancing (please bring your own chair). For those who cannot be present but wish to view the service, it will be streamed live at www.video.barnesvilleohio.com and the Barnesville Police Facebook page, www.facebook.com/BarnesvillePolice. People are asked to bring or fly American flags at their homes.

SMITHFIELD TOWNSHIP Trustee will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. June 1 at the Smithfield Township Park, located in Piney Fork. Do to COVID-19, please call a trustee to have your agenda item placed for discussion. Social distancing will be followed.

BETHESDA BUCKEYES 4-H club held a virtual meeting over Zoom on April 20. Heidi Hull called the meeting to order. Emma Davis took roll call. Brock Fankhouser approved the minutes as read by Emma and Billy Schumacher seconded. Cheyenne Dallas approved the Treasurer’s report as read by Billy and Brock.

They discussed that the member’s livestock books were sent with an email and anyone with a market animal or dairy cow/goat must attend Quality Assurance Training and if you have already been through the training, you may test out.

It was announced that there will be no 4-H or Shooting Sports camps during the summer. Brock motioned to participate in the bottle cap collection that the 4-H Teen Ambassadors are doing and Billy seconded. They also discussed the deadlines for turning in animal registrations: June 1-Rabbits; June 6-Lamb and Goats; June 15-Feeder Calves.
