65th wedding anniversary
Raymond and Delores (Bauman) Straub of Sardis will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary on Nov. 12. In their honor, the family is hosting an open house luncheon from 1-3 p.m. Nov. 15 at the Hilltop Community Center on Ohio 536, Hannibal.
Ray, son of the late Fred and Freda Straub, and Delores, daughter of the late Fred and Daisy Bauman, were united in marriage on Nov. 12, 1950.
Ray, along with his father and brothers did custom machine work and grain threshing for many farmer and served his country as a Marine. He retired from Conalco and as an agent and director from German Farmers Mutual Ins. He is an active member of American Legion Post 760 Hannibal.
Delores worked as a nurse’s aide until she became a mother. From that time on she devoted her time to taking care of her family, and continues that job still today, baking, cooking and canning. They attend Zion United Church of Christ.
They have two daughters: Deb (Rich) Kellner of Shadyside, and Mona (Doug) Duvall of Sardis. Five grandchildren: Melissa (Matthew) Mansuetto and Jennifer (Mario) Kellner-Muscar of Wheeling, John (Kali) Kellner of Columbus, Jessica (Jason) Graham of Sardis, and Erica (Joshua) Kernik of Shadyside. Seven great-grandchildren complete the family, Sydney and Ramsay Mansuetto, Flannery and Nico Muscar, Olivia Graham, and Jase and Dylan Kellner.
The family invites all family and friends to join in the celebration. The couple requests no gifts.
65th wedding anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Robert A. Vargo celebrated their wedding anniversary on Oct. 29. They were married Oct. 29, 1950, at the First United Presbyterian Church, Martins Ferry, by the Rev. Harold Gwynne.
They have two daughters: Vicki and husband Dan Newsome of Simpsonville, S.C., and Debbie and her husband Chuck Cenkus of St. Clairsville.
They have four grandchildren: Patrick and wife Brandy Coughenour, Nate and wife Alexa Newsome, Chuck and wife Katie Cenkus, and Lauren and husband Jed Ott.
Five great grandchildren: Miles and Hadlie Coughenour, Elek Cenkus, and Olivia and Weston Ott.
Bob is retired from Picoma Industries and still works as an usher for the Ohio State University football games, and also is employed by Jamboree In The Hills.
Marie owned and operated Marie’s Beauty Shop in Martins Ferry and is retired.
An outdoor party was held in August at their daughter’s house with family and friends and music by the Ron Retzer Trio.
