IN TIME for St. Patrick’s Day, Matthew J. O’Brien, professor of History at Franciscan University of Steubenville, is tapped to give a discussion on the history of Irish immigration in the Ohio Valley at Martins Ferry Public Library at 6 p.m. Monday. TRI-STATE Military Veterans Museum of Belmont will be having its first monthly meeting of 2020 on Friday. Officials will go over the budget for the new year, projects and events that are coming up. People are invited to share their ideas.

ON MARCH 22, the Martins Ferry Chamber of Commerce will hold a Spaghetti Dinner to benefit the Daily Bread Center. It will be held at St. John Lutheran Church on Fourth Street from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

NEFFS AMERICAN Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit 77 is meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at the legion. All members are asked to attend.

BELMONT COUNTY Belmont County Council of The American Legion Ladies Auxiliary will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Neffs Legion. The group will discuss our trip to Chillicothe. Members are asked to attend.

THE 2020 Harrison Coal & Reclamation Historical Park annual meeting is set for 11 a.m. March 7 at the Harrison County History of Coal Museum, 200 E. Market St., Cadiz. The agenda includes election of officers and directors, along with review of plans such as fundraising.

ON MARCH 9 at 6:30 p.m. at the St. Clairsville Library, the Cumberland Trail Genealogical Society will present Chuck (Sonny) Fair and his book “This Bridge Tells No Tales.” The book is described as an American Saga laced with humor. It is suspense-driven set in the Ohio Valley and the Wheeling Suspension bridge. Fair has written many books. He will have books available at the meeting and will be signing at the meeting. All meetings are free and opened to the public.

THE OHIO County Animal Shelter will provide an Animal Shelter Adoption Day from 1-4 p.m. March 5 at the Lorri Grisell State Farm office located at 12 W. Bethlehem Boulevard in Wheeling. Make sure you stop by to see some of the wonderful pets that are available to adopt. Refreshments offered, too. She is also hosting a food drive for the animals the entire month of March so donations are accepted at her office too.

FISH FRYS at the Harrisville Fire Hall will be held on the following Fridays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.: March 6, 13 and 20; and April 3 and 10. There will also be a bake sale and 50-50 drawing on April 10. There will be no fish fry on March 27 due to the Adena Lions Show at West Elementary. The fish frys are sponsored by the Harrisville Firemen and Auxiliary. Take outs available; call 740-546-3242.

FRIDAY Fish Frys at the Shadyside St. Mary’s Church are underway from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays. Call ahead to order at 740-340-5061.

MARTINS FERRY Knights of Columbus is slated to hold its 28th annual Lenten fish fry at the council home, 25 N. Fourth St., each Friday of Lent. Fish will be sold from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. or until the fish is sold out. Call 740-633-0528 early to reserve orders.

The menu includes Coleman’s fish, onion rings, french fries, macaroni and cheese, cabbage and noodles and cole slaw. Eat in or take out orders available with delivery to city businesses.

BRILLIANT AMERICAN Legion also hosts a Fish Fry on the first Friday of each month from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. The next first Friday Fish Fry will be March 6.
