Native plant sale underway
ST. CLAIRSVILLE — The Belmont Soil and Water Conservation District is hosting a Native Plant Sale, running now through Sept. 1.
This is a great opportunity for community members to purchase native perennials, grasses, sedges, and ferns. Native plants are those that naturally occur in a specific region, having evolved in that area’s climate and soil conditions over a long period.
Orders can be placed online at belmontswcd.org.
To complement the sale, it will host an in-person Native Plant Class on at 6 p.m. Sept. 9 at the Belmont Soil and Water Conservation District office. This workshop will focus on site design and using native plants to create landscapes that provide habitat and ecological benefits for pollinators, birds, and other wildlife. The cost to register for this class is $10.
Native plant orders will be available for pickup after the class or the following day.
For more information or to RSVP for the class, call 740-526-0027 or email belmontswcd.edu@gmail.com.
