WHEELING It all started back in 1933.

C.H. Remp, the manager of the White Motor Company branch in Pittsburgh, was offered a dealership in a new territory of the up-and-coming city of Wheeling. Remp first started out on 17th Street in Wheeling. The family lived above the garage and worked hard on increasing sales until the “Wheeling White Truck Company Inc.” needed to expand. The company moved into its second location on Main Street in Wheeling.

“Wheeling White” through the years has been a dealer for: White, Autocar, Freightliner, Western Star, and Diamond Reo, all of which were manufactured by the White Motor Company of Cleveland. In 1969 the company moved into its current location at 23rd and Market St.. In 1981 Volvo purchased the assets of the White Motor Company. In 1987 Volvo merged with GMC’s heavy truck business and Wheeling Truck Center added the GMC medium truck lineup. After adding the GMC line, the dealership’s name was changed to “Wheeling Truck Center, Inc.”

In 1996 Lobster Truck Leasing & Rental, Inc. was created to service customers who need truck and trailer leasing and rental, and contract maintenance programs.

In 75 years Wheeling Truck Center has seen a variety of truck models come and go, industries come and go, and they have been continually upgrading through the years to better serve our customers. Wheeling Truck Center is proud to offer many of the latest products including an e-commerce site for truck accessories www.VTChrome.com and most recently Karmak’s “Client Talk” software.

Wheeling Truck Center has received many industry awards through the years and consistently wins awards from Volvo Trucks North America. Recently they have been named a Volvo “Symbols of Excellence Gold Club Dealer.” This award ranked Wheeling Truck Center 16th out of 305 Volvo dealers nationwide. Symbols of Excellence is an evaluation done by an independent third party that grades Volvo dealerships on all aspects of dealership operations.

Wheeling Truck Center is the oldest continuing White/Volvo Truck dealer in North America. Wheeling Truck Center is currently owned/operated by Ronald Remp (third generation) and Chad Remp (fourth generation).

Wheeling Truck Center’s parts, service, new and used truck sales, and leasing and rental company are all housed in its 22,000-square-foot facility with 14 service bays. The dealership is open from 7:30 a.m. to 6 pm Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.
