St. Clairsville schools ID children with disabilities

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — The St. Clairsville-Richland City School District is participating in an effort to locate, evaluate and identify all children 3-21 years of age with disabilities.

Disability, in this instance, means such conditions as autism, cognitive disability (mental retardation), deaf-blindness, deafness, emotional disturbance, hearing impairment, multiple disabilities, orthopedic impairment, other health impairment, specific learning disability, speech or language impairment, traumatic brain injury, and visual impairment.

Information may be obtained from parents and the student, or from other agencies that have information about the student. This information, as well as district-level testing and assessment information, will be used to determine whether the child has a disability and needs special services. All information will be held in strict confidence and released to others only with parent permission or as allowed by law.

If you have or know of a child, residing within the district, that may have a disability, call Diane Thompson, director of special education, at 740-699-2219 or by email at diane.thompson@stcschools.com.
