Celebrate the harvest at Barnesville Pumpkin Festival

T-L File Photo People gather for the official ribbon cutting at the 2021 Barnesville Pumpkin Festival.

BARNESVILLE — The streets of Barnesville will welcome thousands of visitors again from Sept. 22-25 as the annual Pumpkin Festival returns to the village.

After a hiatus due to COVID-19 in 2020, the Barnesville Pumpkin Festival returned again in 2021 better than ever! The event had a record-breaking King Pumpkin, weighing in at 2,195 pounds, which sold for $8,500. It also included lots of great food and contests, over 400 cars in the car show and a giant pumpkin parade.

“A special thank you goes to all those that attended the 2021 Festival and to Belmont Classic Cars for the purchase of the King Pumpkin to support the Festival,” the committee wrote on its website. “We look forward to another great festival this year with a terrific lineup of entertainment and even more record-setting events. See you in September!”

While details of the schedule are not yet available, annual activities include: The annual King Pumpkin Weigh-Off on Wednesday evening, the Giant Pumpkin Parade on Saturday, a car show, daily entertainment, food and craft vendors, and a slew of carnival rides and games. A royal court will be selected, and there will be plenty of opportunities for family fun on the streets of the downtown.
