SHADYSIDE — An investigation is underway after a young child was allegedly exposed to opioids in the Shadyside area. Belmont County Prosecutor Kevin Flanagan confirmed that an investigation is being conducted, but he declined to provide any details. He said his office does not have enough information yet to release anything further.

James Zusack, chief sheriff’s deputy, said his department conducted an investigation after receiving a report that a child had been exposed to opioids. He said Children Services was contacted and became involved in the case as well.

“The case is in the hands of the prosecutor’s office now,” Zusack said. “We are just waiting to see if charges will be filed or not.”
