St. Clairsville house fire contained to one half of duplex
ST. CLAIRSVILLE — The Cumberland Trail Fire District responded to a call at 3:23 p.m. Sunday regarding a house fire at a duplex.
Firefighters had the blaze at 51986 Blue Spruce Drive under control about 20 minutes after the arrival of the first engine. The department cleared the scene at 5:20 p.m.
The cause of the fire is still unknown, said Assistant Fire Chief Daniel Grady.
When the first engine arrived, there was heavy fire in the garage area of the home and extended slightly into the laundry room in the living area. A car outside of the garage also caught fire and was totaled.
The fire district was able to keep the flames from extending into the second part of the duplex, but the residence that caught fire will be a total loss, according to Grady.
No residents were harmed and were outside of the home when first responders arrived.
The fire is still under investigation, Grady said.
