A fire started at the former Smith Oil gas station as a result of a spark from a construction project on Monday evening. According to Bellaire Volunteer Fire Department Assistant Chief Tim Bell Jr., the fire started from a spark igniting the gas pump during the work. The flames were extinguished within two minutes of the department arriving on the scene. He added that no injuries were reported, and the fire is currently under investigation.
