MORRISTOWN — After over a decade of serving St. Clairsville, Papa D’s Pizza has expanded to include a second location in Morristown.
The second store is located at 66665 Belmont-Morristown Road, which is the former DiCarlo’s Pizza site. Owner and operator Quinton Crosby said that he originally thought the new location would open in October, but it was able to open on Sept. 25.
“We managed to get it going a little bit sooner than expected. We thought that the health department may be getting to us around then, but they got in here pretty quick,” he said. “We also put in a lot of work. We had to do a lot of painting, but a lot of the equipment was already here.”
Crosby said that in the 10 years that Papa D’s has been operating, this past Saturday was the most business he’s ever had.
“We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to our customers, both new and existing, for their continued support. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate the beginning challenges of our new location,” he posted on Papa D’s Facebook page. “We’re happy to report Saturday was the busiest day in our franchise’s history.”
Crosby said that he believes the second location being in Morristown is good because, when DiCarlo’s closed, it left a gap in the community for local pizza.
“We’ve had good community outreach so far, everyone seems really excited,” Crosby said. “There’s not really a whole lot of pizza going on out here. In St Clairsville, we have like 10 pizza places in three miles. So that’s why this is such an ideal location.”
DiCarlo’s also had a frozen yogurt area on the right side of the store, which he plans to utilize for an undecided addition to the location in the near future.
The second location is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, Saturday is noon to 10 p.m., and then 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Sunday.
The second location will also serve a lunch special which is three slices of pizza and a drink for $6.99.
He said the decision was due to a lot of the students at Union Local High School having time to kill after school but before sports and band practice.
Crosby added that a lot of the teachers have expressed a desire to order pizza during their lunch break.
The decision to expand the business was due to the success of Crosby selling prepackaged pepperoni rolls at more than 30 gas stations in Belmont County. He said that the sales from the prepackaged pepperoni rolls have been a great money maker for the business.
In addition to having the pepperoni rolls sold in gas stations, they are also available to organizations doing fundraising events.
The Morristown location delivers up to 5 miles, but will soon be available on third-party delivery websites such as DoorDash.
