BELMONT COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT
At 2:16 p.m. Wednesday, a deputy on a traffic stop on Mall Road and Red Roof Lane in St. Clairsville issued a warning to an Ohio motorist for a stop bar, cracked windshield and seatbelt violations.
At 11:44 a.m. Wednesday, a case worker reported that one of her clients told her that her mother and grandmother had been denying her food and medication. The client said they had been physical with her in the past. A deputy contacted Job and Family Services and took information.
At 6:51 a.m. Wednesday, a caller from an address at The Meadows in St. Clairsville reported his vehicle rolled out of his driveway, went into the neighbor’s yard and struck a tree, with airbags deployed. The vehicle was unoccupied, according to the caller. Units responded, and Bill’s Towing was requested.
At 4:41 a.m. Wednesday, officers responded to an address on Patton’s Run Road in Martins Ferry for a report of domestic trouble. Two individuals were arguing. Parties were to remain separated in the residence. The female advised she would be out by 6 p.m. that day.
At 2:41 a.m. Wednesday, an officer on a traffic stop on Hanover Street and Ohio 7 in Martins Ferry detained one male after consent was given to search the vehicle. Drug abuse instruments were found on all three occupants. They were all released pending charges, and a warning was issued to the driver for driving left of center.
At 11:47 p.m. Thursday, officers on a traffic stop on Ohio 7 north, just south of Shadyside, reported that a K-9 gave a positive indication on the vehicle. The Ohio State Highway Patrol responded for a narcotics test. Shadyside Police also responded to the scene. The Ohio driver had a suspended license, according to the report. One officer went to an address on Sherman Avenue in Steubenville, the report stated, and a deputy transported one male to the Belmont County Jail.
At 10:34 p.m. Thursday, a deputy on a traffic stop on Ohio 7 near the cemetery in Powhatan Point issued a warning to an Ohio motorist for a stop sign violation.
At 9:04 p.m. Thursday, an officer on a traffic stop on Ohio 7 north near the Moundsville Bridge in Pease Township reportedly was given consent to search but found nothing. A warning was issued to an Ohio motorist for texting while driving and for driving outside of marked lanes.
At 8:38 p.m. Thursday, a detective on a traffic stop on Ohio 7 north near the cemetery in Powhatan Point issued a warning to an Ohio motorist for driving outside of marked lanes.
At 8:43 p.m. Thursday, an officer on a traffic stop on Ohio 7 north near the Shadyside exit issued a warning to an Ohio motorist for driving with an obstructed windshield.
At 7:52 p.m. Thursday, an officer was out with a disabled semi on the exit ramp on Interstate 70 east at exit 208. The turning lane was blocked, according to the report. The Illinois driver put out cones, and help was on the way, according to the report.
At 7:50 p.m. Thursday, an officer on a traffic stop on Ohio 7 north near the Shadyside exit issued a warning to an Ohio motorist for driving outside of marked lanes.
At 6:48 p.m. Thursday, units responded to an address on Rock River Road in Jerusalem for a report of a male and female having a verbal only argument. The male had left to go to their trailer. Barnesville Police also responded to the scene. According to the report, the male was drunk and didn’t mean to call.
At 7:10 p.m. Thursday, a detective on a traffic stop on Ohio 7 in Powhatan Point. Two individuals in the vehicle had expired licenses, and one had a valid license, the report stated. A male was advised that he couldn’t use his own tag as a temporary tag, and the vehicle was going to remain parked there, the officer reported. A warning was issued for a light on the vehicle that was out.
At 6:33 p.m. Thursday, deputies responded to The Village Network on National Road in Belmont for a report of an assault. One male juvenile was taken to the Sargus Juvenile Detention Center.
At 6:25 p.m. Thursday, a detective on a traffic stop on Interstate 470 east before the bridge issued a written warning to an Ohio motorist for failure to signal.
At 5:59 p.m. Thursday, an officer on a traffic stop on Ohio 7 near Picoma Road in Pease Township issued a warning for speeding to a West Virginia motorist.
At 1:57 p.m. Thursday, a caller from OR&W Station Street in Jacobsburg reported that on the previous day, a large semi truck used her driveway to turn around. In doing so, the truck got stuck, and it did damage to the property. She called the company, and a representative indicated that they would send someone out to view the damage. The complainant wanted a call record in case the company did not take action to remedy the problem, according to the report.
At 3:58 p.m. Thursday, a caller from a business on National Road in Bridgeport reported that a former co-worker sent him a text that he considered threatening. The former co-worker allegedly called him a vulgar name and used profane language toward him. The complainant wanted a call record in case he runs into this man somewhere and the man “hits him upside the head,” according to the report, which stated that the text did not constitute a direct threat.
At 2:21 p.m. Thursday, a deputy on a traffic stop on Hammond Road in St. Clairsville near Belmont County Job and Family Services issued a warning to a West Virginia motorist for failure to yield.
At 11:58 a.m. Thursday, a school resource officer at the Belmont Career Center on Hammond Road, St. Clairsville, reported a bomb threat that was observed on Snapchat. Detectives responded, and information was taken for a report.
At 10:17 a.m. Thursday, a sergeant was out at the Belmont Career Center on Hammond Road in St. Clairsville, where one male juvenile was taken into custody. The juvenile’s mother came to the station, according to the report.
