Four arrested on drug charges in Belmont County

Four people, two from Ohio and two from West Virginia, were arrested last week on drug charges and approximately 120 grams of alleged methamphetamine was seized during the arrest, according to the Belmont County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a BCSO press release, Jan. 2, detectives with the Belmont County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Unit assigned to the Attorney General’s Ohio Organized Crime Investigations Commission began an investigation into alleged drug trafficking at a local hotel near St. Clairsville.

Detectives conducted surveillance, a traffic stop, searched a vehicle, and then searched a hotel room. During the investigation, four were arrested, and approximately 120 grams of suspected methamphetamine were seized.

The four arrested were:

∫ Heather Renne Owens, 51, of Bellaire, who was booked into jail for possession of methamphetamine, and obstructing official business.

∫ Shelley Brooks, 52, of Wheeling, who was booked into jail for possession and trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of criminal tools, and possession of drug abuse instruments.

∫ Katie Lynn Kennen, 35, of Bridgeport, who was booked into jail for possession and trafficking in methamphetamine, tampering with evidence, and possession of drug abuse instruments.

∫ Alex Jerimiah Davis, 34, of Wheeling, who was booked into jail on possession and trafficking in methamphetamine, and possession of criminal tools.

Belmont County Sheriff James Zusack thanked the Richland Township Police Department for its assistance in the investigation.
