WHEELING — Students and staff at Wheeling Central Catholic High School are asking Wheeling residents for the 60th consecutive holiday season to place a bag of donated canned and boxed food items on their porch next week. Steubenville explosion is being investigated

STEUBENVILLE — An explosion that rocked homes in the vicinity of McKinley Avenue late Tuesday afternoon is being investigated by the state fire marshal’s office “as well as other agencies,” Fire Chief Joe Ribar said. “It was a residential abandoned structure on Capitol Avenue,” Ribar said Wednesday. “The entire street is actually abandoned, the city no longer (maintains) it.” He said the building had been vacant for years and no one was injured. “Damage up there was just to the structure involved,” he said. “No one else has notified us of any other damage to ...

At 10:50 p.m. Tuesday, a caller at Kroger on Valley Plaza Drive in St. Clairsville asked to speak to an officer face-to-face about an incident that allegedly occurred at Denny’s. At 9:51 p.m. Tuesday, a 911 hangup call was received from Sleep Inn Suites on Reco Road in Belmont. An officer made contact with the front desk clerk, and there were no issues there as far as she knew. It was determined that a juvenile was playing with a phone and accidentally called 911.
