MARTINS FERRY — Inflatables, food, music and fireworks are on tap for the 2018 Skyshow in Martins Ferry.

The event is set to kick off at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Martins Ferry City Schools campus, 5000 Ayers Limestone Road. The rain date is Thursday.

Marian Klier, secretary for the Martins Ferry Chamber of Commerce, said a new feature this year will be face painting for children, conducted by the Martins Ferry National Honor Society students.

Inflatables, including an obstacle course, sport bounce and baseball, will be provided by All Year Sports Galaxy of Wheeling from 6:15-9:15 p.m.

Fireworks by American Fireworks will begin about 9:30 p.m. Food vendors will include Ideal Provisions, Max’s Concessions and the Martins Ferry Lions Club. Another stand will offer snowcones and candy.

The entry gate will close at 9:10 p.m. prior to the start of the fireworks. Admission to the show is free, but donations are welcomed at the gate.

“It’s a wonderful community event. People from all over the area are there. There is lots of good food, good entertainment and lots of good times,” Klier said. “It’s an event for the whole family. Bring a chair or blanket and great ready for the big show.”

Musical entertainment will be provided by Matt Van Fossen and will begin at 7 p.m.

Sponsors of the event include the chamber, Belmont County Tourism Council, The Times Leader, Unified Bank, Ohio Valley Medical Center and East Ohio Regional Hospital, National Lime and Stone Co./NLS Paving.

Pets are not allowed to attend the event. No alcohol is permitted, either.

Klier said a 50-50 raffle will be held. People can also purchase VIP parking passes.

Those who would like to volunteer to help the chamber get ready for the show can do so starting at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Klier said she is in need of someone with a truck who can transport signs and tables; call 740-633-2565 or email to mfchamber@comcast.net.
