MARTINS FERRY — Redwood Veterinary Hospital is holding a “Christmas in July” fundraiser to support local animal shelters and pet rescue organizations.

The veterinary office is asking people to donate pet supplies such as cat and kitten food, clumping litter, any kitten supplies, dog food, dog toys and dog treats as well as cleaning supplies such as bleach, laundry detergent, dish soap, wipes and paper towels.

Redwood will only accept pet food that is unopened.

All donated items will be given to local animal shelters and pet rescue organizations.

Elizabeth Gibbons, a vet technician at Redwood, said that when people bring their items to donate at the veterinary office, they can fill out a paper to enter a raffle.

They can enter the raffle every time they stop by the office with donations.

The more donations the veterinary office receives, the larger the prizes will be.

Gibbons said some of the prizes include a new television, a grill, gift cards, lottery tickets and free pet supplies such as flea and tick preventives.

“We wanted to do something to make it fun for our clients and for the community,” Peightyn Bumbico, a vet technician at Redwood, said.

All of the prizes have been donated by the following sponsors: Elanco Animal Health, Merck Animal Health, Mighty Fine Dog Grooming in St. Clairsville, Zoetis Petcare, Penn Veterinary Supply, Midei IGA in Tiltonsville, Patterson Veterinary, Virbac Animal Health, IDEXX Pet Healthcare and Purina.

Redwood Veterinary Hospital will be accepting donations during hours of operation from now until Aug. 4. The winners of the raffle will be announced on that date.

Redwood Veterinary Hospital is located at 13 S. Fifth St. in Martins Ferry. It is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday. The office is closed on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday.
