FLUSHING — Fire claimed the life of one Belmont County resident early Saturday.

Coroner Amanda Fishers confirmed that a blaze at a home on Morristown-Flushing Road resulted in the death of an elderly man. His name was not immediately released Saturday morning.

According to Belmont County Central Dispatch, the fire was reported around 1 a.m.

In addition to the coroner, who cleared the scene shortly before 6 a.m., agencies that responded include: Flushing, Lafferty and Holloway fire departments, the Belmont County Sheriff’s Office and the Ohio State Fire Marshal’s Office.
