UPDATE: I-70 reopens after Guernsey County crash

Fairview — Interstate 70 westbound has reopened after traffic was backed up for about 10 miles throughout the day and evening Tuesday.

An Ohio State Patrol dispatcher confirmed the highway reopened around 9:45 p.m. The accident, which involved a hazardous material spill, occurred near mile post 198. Although no trooper from St. Clairsville were at the scene, local dispatchers said they were aware that traffic was backing up as far as mile post 210 east of Belmont. The Ohio Department of Transportation and fire department officials are handling traffic control. No further details were available at 7 p.m.

A dispatcher advised drivers to use caution in the area late Tuesday, as cleanup continued after the roadway reopened.
