BELLAIRE – A major water main break Wednesday has left the entire village of Bellaire without water, according to Bellaire Mayor Ed Marling.

Marling said he received a call at 3:15 a.m. Wednesday that a break at the intersection of 31st and Hamilton streets left the village without running water. Village employees were installing new joint at the site of the break Wednesday afternoon.

“They’re out there fixing it now, they cut about a six-foot joint out and are putting the coupling in now. Then we’re going to start filling the tank up,” Marling said. “Once we get that done, we’ll be ready to run.”

Marling said that he estimates it will still be at least four to five hours until residents have running water again.

Once the pipe is up and running, he will then be ordering a 48 hour boiling order in effect to ensure the safety of his residents.
