WEIRTON — Blood donors are needed every day to support patients undergoing medical treatments, including those living with sickle cell disease. During Sickle Cell Awareness Month in September, Vitalant is highlighting the need for donors. Patients with sickle cell disease often require regular blood transfusions and may need closely matched blood because frequent transfusions can cause antibodies to develop.
