MICHAEL ZONKOSKI

Michael R. “Zonk” Zonkoski Sr. of Adena, Ohio, passed into forever on Monday, Jan. 20, 2020.

He was born July 25, 1938, the fourth son of the late Mike and Helen Krupinski Zonkoski.

Mike is survived by his wife, Marilyn “Bunny” Gaddie Zonkoski; sons, Marty (Cheryl) Zonkoski of Port St. Lucie, FL, Mike Zonkoski of Adena; grandchildren, Taylor, Cody, Michael (Angel), Bryce, Brooke; great- granddaughter, Arabella; two special sisters-in-law, Norma Zankosi of Henderson, Nevada and Shirley Gaddie of Canton, Ohio; two real family critters, Buffy and Bandy.

Mike was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving in naval aviation at N.A.S. Alameda, CA and later in the Pacific aboard the USS Ticonderoga C.V.A. 14; a member of St. Casimir Catholic Church of Adena where he started singing in grade school, continued through high school, later a choir member and cantor at his church. He also sang in the Adena Lions Club Minstrel for 45-plus years.

Later in life, Mike ran in several Elby’s 20K runs.

Friends will be received Friday, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Borkoski Funeral Home, 60 South Bridge Street, Adena, Ohio, where a vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Friends will then gather at St. Casimir Catholic Church, Hanna Avenue, Adena, at 11 a.m. Saturday for Mass of Christian Burial with Monsignor John Kolesar as celebrant.

Military honors will be conducted by the Adena American Legion Post 525 following Mass.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Casimir Catholic Church. Interment will be private.
