SAMUEL PEPPLER

Samuel Peppler, 77 of Bridgeport, OH, passed away, October 5, 2024, surrounded by family. He was born December 11, 1946, in Parkersburg, WV, son of the late John and Wilmadene Peppler. Sam was a graduate of Parkersburg HS. He furthered his education at Fairmont State College, where he received his BA in Education. Sam was also an offensive lineman on the 1967 Fairmont State College NAIA National Championship football team.

Upon graduation, Sam began his 40-year career in education. His first position was as a teacher in Belpre, OH, where he was the head wrestling coach. From there, Sam began teaching at Ohio County Schools in Wheeling, WV. In addition to his position as a teacher at Ritchie Elementary, Sam was also an assistant football coach at Wheeling Park HS, as well as an assistant track coach at Wheeling Park. After retiring from teaching, Sam continued coaching at the high school level as a member of both the football and track staff at Bridgeport HS in Bridgeport, OH.

In addition to coaching, Sam served as the GED Coordinator for Ohio County schools for many years. During his time at Ohio County Schools earned 2 master’s degrees, the first from Wheeling Jesuit College and then from Hillsdale University. He also served at OCPS Credit Union on the Board of Directors.

Sam will be remembered by his family as the most kind and generous man they have known and the best Pappy ever. Nothing ever rattled Sam as he was grounded in faith and knew exactly his direction. Sam was a member of Lansing United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 412, Lansing, OH 43934.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother John Michael Peppler.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Evelyn Peppler, of Lansing, daughter, Michelle (Mike) Coss, grandchildren, Peyton (Nick)Therriault, Colton Coss, great grandchildren, Easton and Atley Therriault, sisters, Patricia Peppler, Julia Thomas, brother-in-law, Bernie (Colleen) Herman, Mike (Jonne) Herman, several nieces and nephews, Stacy, Jamison, and Lydia Snyder.

There will be a memorial visitation on Sunday, October 13, 2024, from 1-till time of service at 3pm at the Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Road, Bridgeport, OH 43912. Funeral service will be at 3pm at the funeral home with Rev. John Jackson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lansing United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 412 Lansing, OH 43934.
