JAMES “STONEY” STONEBREAKER

James “Stoney” Stonebreaker, 79, of Beallsville, Ohio passed away peacefully in the home that he loved on Monday, October 27, 2025.

He was born July 31, 1946 in Preston County, West Virginia, a son of the late James H. “Bud” Stonebreaker and Mary Lewis McNear. Stoney was a proud Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of American Legion Post 768. He worked at the Quarto #4 Mine for many years and retired from the former McElroy Mine. One of Stoney’s favorite pastimes was tinkering on tractors and cars and working on anything at all that needed fixed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James “Jimmy” Stonebreaker, two daughters, Barbie and Debbie Stonebreaker; a stepson, Justin Palmer; a sister, Barbara Smouse; a special niece, Renee Palmer; brothers-in-law, Ralph “Bob” Palmer and Randy “Rudy” Palmer.

Surviving are his wife, Robin Palmer Stonebreaker; three children, Brian (Chass) Stonebreaker, Donna (Web) Bishop, and Stacey Stonebreaker; three brothers, Chuck, Tom, and Roy Stonebreaker; a brother-in- law, Skip (Frances) Palmer; two sisters-in- law, Sherri (John) Wells and Susan (Bill) Nesbitt; several cousins, grandchildren and great-grandchil- dren; also a special cousin, Elsie Field and a special niece and nephew Kayla and Cody Wells. Stoney will be sadly missed by his family and friends and also by the many people he had helped throughout the community and beyond.

Visitation will be held at Wilson Funeral Home, Harper Chapel, 52728 Ohio Ave., Beallsville, Friday, October 31 from 2- 4pm and 6-8pm and Saturday, November 1 from 11am until the time of the funeral service at 2pm. Full military honors will be presented by American Legion Post 768. Burial will follow in Beallsville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers and keepsakes, Stoney’s family requests that memorial contributions be made to an animal shelter of the donor’s choice.
