James John Sloan, 87, of Midway, Ohio, died August 26, 2023, at the Arbors of Woodsfield, Ohio. He was born August 4, 1936, in Crescent, Ohio, a son of the late James E. Sloan and Katherine Dudek Sloan. Jim was a graduate of St. Clairsville High School and spent his working career as a coal miner, state mine inspector and for Mine Rescue and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of the American Legion Post 159 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5356; a founding member of the Fairpoint Polish Club; and a member of Weyer Lodge 541 F. & A.M. in Centerville.
