Thanks for support of Adena decorations

Dear Editor:

I would like to thank everyone who helped in any way getting our village Christmas lights in working order. We had some money donated by local organizations and businesses that helped get this project completed this year. Our wreaths were purchased in 2008 and 2010 and needed to be repaired. So a committee of several residents decided to take on this project and do something. We ordered new lights, decorations, sockets, wiring and brackets. Each wreath was gone over and made sure that each was in working order before it was put up. The committee would like to thank each of you who bought tickets and sold tickets for our raffle, and the following for their generous donations: Adena American Legion Post 525, The Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary, Sons of the Legion, Herman Borkoski, Terry’s Bar, Dr. Bangera, Adena Heritage Day Committee, John Figurski, Peoples National Bank, Dr. Dan Jones, Miss Brittany’s Preschool and the Adena Women’s Club.

We ran a 50/50 throughout the fall up until the drawing on Dec. 1. The winner was Ed Figurski. The tickets were donated by D&E Electric. D&E also donated time, manpower, material and equipment to complete this project. I am still working with Ohio Power to get a few of the pole hookups replaced that were taken when poles are replaced. We are at the mercy of the power company to get the hookups replaced — hopefully this Christmas season. Carol and Ray Potkoski, Lynn Sweeney, Brenda and John Roski and Bob Young all donated their time fixing the wreaths. It just takes a few to make a difference and when people support you it makes for a great completed ongoing project. Thank you to everyone who helped in any way, and we will try to fix them on a yearly basis with support. The wreaths we have were all purchased by private donations. Billie Stanwick made signage to state who had purchased the wreaths — some of them had to be replaced, too. If you would like to help next year, just let me know. Again, thank you, Adena. The Christmas star is up, too — thank you Zeroskis. Merry Christmas.
