Mayor has gone above and beyond

Dear Editor,

After reading and seeing so much bad news in the news media Iád like to turn this thing around and concentrate on some good news going on in our communities, etc.

For the sake of brevity, Iáll get to it. The village of Belmont has been transformed into a much better community simply because of Mayor Stan Sobel, an ex-teacher at Union Local, who has the tenacity, energy and smarts to correct the condition of the village. Yes, he cared — and it reminds me of a saying by Albert Einstein, in which he said, âOnly a life lived for others is a life worthwhile.ã

Mr. Sobel later had a lot of help, such as some Bethesda officials and many people from Belmont who followed him to the plate. That also deserves praise and recognition, however Iám not privy to their names, being from a neighboring town.

Therefore, I nominate Stan Sobel as âman of the yearã if there is such an award. Heás certainly deserving!

Sincerely,

Bob Kildow
