Common sense?

Dear Editor,

I’ve been listening to all the so-called experts discussing health care for Americans, but so far I have not heard them talking about the real problems. Every dollar that needs cut could be accomplished by simply removing the people who are abusing the system.

The same goes for Social Security Disability program. Millions in these programs do not deserve to be in them in the first place, but every time a conservative politician talks about fixing them, the libs automatically start talking about pushing Granny off the cliff, instead of facing the root causes for the implosion!

They are talking about millions dying if repeal is accomplished, but they don’t recognize the millions who can’t afford Obamacare or the millions that have a medical card but can’t use it because of astronomical deductibles.

The insurance industry is the largest and richest industry in America. There needs to be reform so that there can be competition for buyers, so that people who have paid for insurance for decades cannot be thrown off regardless of age or medical history. This includes the auto insurance industry, too.

These greedy industries are right now in a win-win situation, when they know everyone needs insurance and they can set any charges they want and then cancel buyers when they no longer make money off of them. The pharmaceutical companies are no better; they have politicians in their pockets who will not allow competition when Americans pay two, three or even four times the price for identical drugs available in other countries.

We definitely need reform in this country, but there really, really has to be a little common sense applied to the fix — something very, very hard to find in Washington, D.C.

Thank you, and God bless America,

Dwain E. Knight
