For the love of reading — vote YES!

Dear Editor,

Fellow Readers and Community Members, this coming November, I am asking you to support the St. Clairsville Public Library’s Renewal Levy. Our library offers countless programs and resources for folks of all ages. This renewal levy is not a new tax.

As a parent and educator, I am actively involved with our library and appreciate all of the hours that are passionately put forth by the staff to help foster a love of reading.

The most notable program offered by our library would be the Summer Reading Program that requires teamwork and ingenuity from so many staff members! Our librarians work tirelessly to creatively design fun and engaging themes for each summer session. They create incentives for reading, create games and activities to challenge the brain and encourage participation, organize a Story Walk in town, and work along with many outside organizations to provide presentations, performances, and fun family time.

This summer we got to check out a telescope and enjoy the evening sky as a family! They raffle off enticing prize baskets, some of which included tickets to the Pittsburgh Zoo and Kings Island. A Kindle Fire 10 and a Nintendo Switch were other incentives. Other programs in place at the library are StoryTime, After School Artist sessions, Movie Nights, Book Discussions, and Not Your Mother’s Book Club, just to name a few.

The staff is also very eager to visit our classrooms and share all of the services that our library provides to our students free of charge. Hoopla, Libby, computers, printers, hot spots, books, magazines, and more, are all resources our students can access at the library for school projects. They offer after school programming for teens as well.

The most valuable resource the library provides to our community is the talented, friendly, and passionate staff. They are eager to assist my family and I every single time we visit. We feel welcome, comfortable, and encouraged to read and use these resources on a regular basis. Let’s continue to support our librarians in their exceptional efforts and vote for this renewal levy so kids and adults alike can continue to benefit from all of these services for the love of reading and our community!
