Consider Reality Over Rhetoric

Dear Editor,

As former President Donald J. Trump continues his personal revenge motivated egocentric quest to regain the U.S. presidency his words have made it abundantly clear that if reelected he would not be in office to serve the people as might be the case in our democratic form of government but rather he expects the people to serve him as he has religiously stated that if he is granted another term by the electorate he will replace public servants who have pledged an oath to serve the people and uphold the Constitution with those with unquestionable loyalty to him and him alone, which completely contradicts the very essence on which our great nation is based.

Recall also that Mr. Trump promises that if he is reelected, he will continue a border wall between the U.S. and Mexico as he had promised likewise when he was first elected president in 2016 and that Mexico would pay for the project in its entirety and failed to deliver.

In addition, if reelected Mr. Trump has pledged to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare. He has failed to do so and to develop a plan as to what he proposed to replace it with.

It has also been stated that if Mr. Trump is returned to office that he plans to withdraw the U.S. from NATO, giving the green light for his autocratic allies such as Vladimir Putin of Russia and Xi Jing Ping of China to further exert their will on other nations unabated.

In contrast, since taking office more than 14 million jobs have been created under President Joe Biden, a historic high mark and unemployment currently stands at 3.7%. Where it has been under the current president that we as a nation have not consistently seen in approximately six decades, which although Mr. Trump likes to brag about his economy the economic success statistics under Biden dwarf those achieved under the Trump administration.

Inflation is certainly a matter of grave concern for us all, but such does not continue thankfully to improve under President Biden and is truly a worldwide problem with the U.S. faring better in that regard than almost any other nation in the world.

Finally, although Republicans conservatives like to blame President Biden for our current very troubling federal budget deficit, in fact under President Trump the federal deficit expanded to a high level never before seen in the history of our great nation.

If we are to survive as a democracy, fact must take priority over inane political campaign rhetoric.
