Dear Editor,

“The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie,” (2 Thessalonians 2:9)

The previous Bible verse is a reference to the antichrist. I know there are those of you who would question why I chose this for a letter to the editor, but I ask that you indulge me.

In the past few months in my studies I have found something particularly concerning when it comes to people being fooled.

As many of you know the world is making incredible advancements in artificial intelligence.

The use of quantum computers and the development of the Majorana chip have made nearly nothing impossible for artificial intelligence.

Recently I have watched several artificial intelligence videos that have moved to a new level of believability. The untrained eye cannot distinguish the cyberspace individual from a real human being.

My limited understanding is they are using various processes like Google Veo 3. These videos are indistinguishable from actual human YouTube videos.

The old process of AI videos made the person look glassy and movement was stilted. Sometimes the eyes would look fake or wavy but now … even the voices can imitate someone.

Why is this dangerous?

It’s not real.

It looks real. It sounds real. But it isn’t real.

An unscrupulous media or government could easily create false flag events using this system.

Example: Hacking the media. A president could appear on a network special bulletin and declare we have entered world war 3 and cause massive chaos.

A familiar newscaster might state the economy has collapsed sending the markets into turmoil by people withdrawing money from banks.

All false and all Artificial Intelligence.

A scientist in the AI field said in the next five years we will not be able to tell what is real and what is fake because artificial intelligence will be that good. We will not be able to distinguish reality. After what I have seen, we are there.

Is artificial intelligence the “image of the beast” spoken of in Revelation 13:15-17?

I don’t know, but I see how it could be with what it is able to do. Not only will it imitate people to perfection but it will have the intelligence of the entire earth within its control.

As a Christian there is only one way to discern this. I recommend that you study the Bible and be led by the Holy Spirit. God is above all things … even that which Satan and man may use through technology to destroy mankind.

Artificial Intelligence is here to stay.

Can it be used for good? Absolutely! But like anything in a fallen world, it can be corrupted.

“For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect.” Matthew 24:24
