Another Italian success

Dear Editor, The Bellaire Sons of Italy participated for the 38th year in the Upper Ohio Valley Italian Festival by selling over a ton and a half of its “famous” sausage sandwich. We are very proud to announce that we had another VERY successful year. This unbelievable community achievement is not a coincidence, and we owe this tremendous success to several factors. Dear Editor, I am writing this letter because this morning (July 23) my year-and-a-half-old Pomeranian/miniature Australian shepherd Charlie was hit and killed by a pick-up truck in front of my house. Veto misses mark on fireworks safety

Dear Editor, Fireworks bill veto misses the mark on safety Five days after the rest of the country celebrated Independence Day with backyard gatherings, cookouts and yes, consumer fireworks, Governor (Mike) DeWine vetoed Senate Bill 113. This bill would have made Ohio the 49th state to allow consumers to legally discharge fireworks. That is correct, Ohio and Massachusetts are the only two states that still have laws making the discharge of fireworks illegal. You can purchase them in Ohio, but legally you cannot use them. Celebration in the park

Dear Editor, I would like to thank all the people that came out to make our Celebration in the Park a successful event. When I found out the Chamber wasn’t going to be able to do fireworks I talked with Andy (Sutak) and the police chief, and we all agreed that something had to be done, and with cooperation of our team and their dedication we were able to put on a great event for our people.
