Tyler Consolidated boys topple visiting Oak Glen

KIDWELL — Nate Deaton singled four times and drove in a run as Tyler Consolidated topped visiting Oak Glen 5-1 in a W.Va. Class AA Regional baseball tournament game Monday.

Brayden Neff singled twice and drove in a run while winning pitcher Reese Davis knocked in a pair of tallies.

Davis worked the first five innings, striking out six and walking five.

Sam Jenkins singled in the Golden Bears lone run. Maddox McKay singled and doubled.

The Silver Knights (14-13) visit Wheeling Central today at the I-470 J.B. Chambers Complex in Elm Grove in the double-elimination event. The first pitch is set for 5 p.m.

W.Va. Class A Regional

Cameron 10, Valley 0

CAMERON — Ike Yoho struck out 11 and allowed a single in pitching the No. 2 seeded Dragons past the Lumberjacks. He also singled twice to drive in a pair of runs in the five-inning affair.

Kason Angel was a homer shy of hitting for the cycle and knocked in two runs. Wes Starcher doubled twice and drove in one.

Cameron remains at home today to face No. 3 Clarksburg Notre Dame, which defeated Magnolia, 9-3, on Monday.

Regular Season

Shadyside 5, Buckeye Local 2

SHADYSIDE — The Tigers scored three times in the fifth and added two more runs in the sixth to defeat visiting Buckeye Local on Fleming Field.

Wyatt Parr and Ryan Collins both had run-scoring singles, while Damien Russell knocked in a third run. Anthony Forgacs had a double.

Luke Crozier earned the mound win with three strikeouts and a like number of walks in five innings. He gave up four singles.

Regular Season

Weir 10, Martins Ferry 6

MARTINS FERRY — The visiting Red Riders and Purple Riders combined for seven home runs, with the visitors slugging four of them.

Kylie Dean belted two roundtrippers for Weir, driving in three runs. She also singled. Rayna Hoover and Loganne Barton also went deep, with both plating a pair of runs. Hoover added a single, as well. Bella Weber, the winning pitcher in relief, had a trio of one-base raps.

Giana Chirpas homered for the 13th time, a single-season Martins Ferry record, and singled twice and drove in two runs. Abbey Snedeker and Averi Hughes each homered, singled twice and knocked in two runs.

Union Local 4, Shadyside 3, 8 inn.

MORRISTOWN — Myah Martin’s solo home run on a 1-1 pitch in the bottom of the eighth lifted the Jets (17-9) over the visiting Tigers.

Union Local scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game as Laken Vinskovich singled in one run and the second scored on a passed ball.

Kylie Stidd had 11 strikeouts and reached the 200 mark for her career. She also doubled.

Ali Kellaway doubled twice for Union Local.

Arianna Saxton had two singles for Shadyside.

Toronto 12, River 8

HANNIBAL — The Red Knights won an offensive shootout against the Pilots on Monday.

River led 5-1 after four innings but Toronto scored five in the top of the fifth to tie the game, and four in the top of the sixth to take a 10-7 lead.

Laney Danko collected four RBI for Toronto, thumping two doubles. She also took the win on the mound, throwing the final 2.2 innings.

Ava Wohnhas struck out 10 for River. Kaylee Hagan and Bri Wiley each doubled for the Pilots. Hagan finished with three RBI.
