Beverly takes down Post 159 in legion baseball
BEVERLY — After scoring twice in the top of the seventh inning Wednesday night, St. Clairsville Post 159 watched as Beverly/Lowell Post 389/750 tallied two times in the bottom of the inning for a 5-4 walk-off American Legion baseball nod.
Eli Smith put Post 159 up 5-4 with a two-run homer in the seventh. Cole Bowers singled twice and Rowan Mellott singled in a run. Evan White also knocked in a run while Billy Schumacher tripled.
Tanner White suffered the loss in relief of Kaleb Stang. White fanned one and walked one. Stang had one strikeout and two walks.

MARTINS FERRY — Locked in a 1-all stalemate, Jake Winland doubled home Ben Wach in the fourth and then scored on an RBI double by Kobe Hill as the Braves kept their top seed hopes alive.
Barton added two more runs in the fifth as Dom Gorence scored on a throwing error and Winland plated the final run with a sacrifice fly.
Caleb Keenan drove in the lone Hitmen run with a single. Drew Sefsick had a double, as did Joe Green.
