The Buckeye Local Volleyball program hosted a “Pink Out” game against Shadyside High School and Jr. High School on Sept. 30, and raised $1300 for the WVU Medicine Wheeling Hospital Breast Cancer Awareness Fund. The boosters, players and parents raised the funds by selling t-shirts, pompoms, beaded necklaces, breast cancer ribbons and the “Panther Pink Drink” at the school’s lunch periods and the game that evening. The Breast Cancer Awareness Fund helps underinsured women with breast cancer screenings and mammograms and helps with costs for various other needs such as wigs and transportation.
