Steubenville shuts out Weir; Shadyside grabs road victory
STEUBENVILLE — The Bowers Brothers — Cole and Landon — combined for all of Steubenville’s goals in a 7-0 boys’ soccer victory over Weir Tuesday night at Harding Stadium.
Cole, a senior who is headed to the U.S. Military Academy as a placekicker in football, scored five goals as he continues to add to his program record.
Landon, a sophomore, netted the other two. Each added an assist.
Chase Beall and Drew Stimpert also logged assists for Big Red (8-4-1). JJ Lamantia had one save. Luca Holt also played as the two combined for the shutout.
Steubenville will next meet city rival Steubenville Catholic on Saturday at 4 p.m. as part of the Together We Care Event at Harding Stadium.

Shadyside Victorious On The Road vs. Panthers
CONNORVILLE — The Tigers got off the bus with a purpose Tuesday, pulling off a road sweep over Buckeye Local, 25-23, 25-16, 30-28.
Aubrey Nippert’s dozen kills led Shadyside. She also finished with 11 digs. Ava Mercer had 19 digs, most on the team, and Addasyn Melanko had 13.
Ali Weatherson piled up 32 assists. Ella Mercer smacked down a trio of blocks.
River Rises Over Magnolia
HANNIBAL — The Pilots defeated the visiting Blue Eagles by scores of 25-22, 25-12, 24-26 and 25-11 in a key OVAC Class 2A matchup inside the R.E. Potts Memorial Gym. Magnolia entered in the fourth — and final — spot at 23.53 as the cut-off date for qualifying for the upcoming tournament is Thursday night. River was at 22.13.
Hallie Hammel charted 21 kills for the Pilots. She also had a trio of aces.
Maci Isaly registered 41 assists and had four aces, while Mallarie Maddy had 10 kills.

Brooke Wins Tournament
WELLSBURG — The Bruins slipped past Weir 173-175 to win the Top of W.Va. Golf League Tournament Tuesday at the par-35 Highland Springs Course.
Brooke’s Parker McMahon earned medalist honors with a 36.
The Red Riders’ Guy Meneely shot 42, two shots better than the Golden Bears’ Zach Jenkins.
